Wk 8 – why is the garden so crowded on sundays

This is a legit question. Rhetorical, of course. And I already know the answer… LOL

Anyways, I walked in expecting a calm afternoon in the gardens. Boy, was I wrong. I walk in and there are children running around and people taking photographs all over the place and it was hot.

I look at my phone and read the first item on the menu: 10 30-second drawings.

I have a confession, most of these might’ve taken longer than 30 seconds.. BUT THAT’S BECAUSE I KEPT GETTING DISTRACTED aka keep looking up and stare at the scenery.

A lot of these are overlapping and look similar but I mean, what can you do? Sitting in one spot, things can get redundant. But, that doesn’t mean I didn’t try.

The next photo has steps B, C-1, and C-2: 5 minute drawing, hand blind-contour, and garden contour. Although these all look the same, they aren’t. I took a different portion of the garden and cut them up into smaller drawings.

Anyways, I looked for new spots to draw for each section. The 5 minute one wasn’t that bad, in my opinion. But it also didn’t come out the way I wanted it to. Moving on, the next 5 minute drawing was the hand contour. I looked at it when it was finished, and it looks so.. oh sweet jesus. Well, I guess it looks interesting. The third one was a garden contour. I guess this one doesn’t really look it. You’re right. I cheated.. a little. I looked at my paper here and there, but not as much as the first 5 minute drawing or the previous ones.

Ah, D-1 was actually confusing, so I only did one… The leave branch in the corner.. That’s… covered with my eraser…

MOVING ON.

D-2, abstract drawings. This one was actually confusing to me since I’m not very familiar with drawing much abstract. Or rather, I’m just not good at it (although, now that I think about it, it’s probably not something one is “good” at.. or can one be… hmm…)

These are typical switcheroos if anything. The first having a tree and plants growing in the water; the second having water and land switched; and the third having all the plants and water “decorations” inside a fence.

Step E. This is totally unrelated to the gardens but more of the month of October. Many artists “participate” in a month long thing of “inktober,” which means a daily drawing (some with a theme for each day or just free drawing) everyday. I was thinking about doing it but failed the first day.. OTL But if anything, there was some time before I got kicked out of the gardens, so I just drew whatever came into my head, albeit incomplete.

If anything, this was an interesting project and I would actually not mind doing this again. (Although, I would try not to be an hour and a half late. I’m sorry again… I saw the gates locked and I was actually about to cry.)
